Wests - U8, U9, U10 Representative Trials

Representative team trials for the Wests U8, U9 and U10 grades will take place on Sunday 12 June 2011 between 9am and 1:30pm at the Boyd-Wilson artificial surface.  Check below for the times for each grade.

Trial Format and Important Notes

The Selectors will be appointed by the Junior Club Committee.

Trial times on Sunday 12 June, will be as follow and will be held rain or shine.

• U8 - 9:00am - 10:30am
• U9 - 10:30am - 12:00pm
• U10 - 12:00pm - 1:30pm

All players who wish to trial must advise the Wests Age Group Convenor for their grade, who will be responsible for creating trial teams, and managing these teams on the day. Players must arrive for their trial at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

Rep Team Selection

In all cases the trial teams will be "mixed" (i.e. not Saturday teams) to provide selectors with a clearer perspective of individual player skill and contribution levels.  Ahead of the trial, the Saturday coaches will be required to provide an assessment, to the selectors (via the age group convenor), for all trialists. This will be based on the relevant criteria from the above list.  

Selection Panel

The selection panel will consist of the rep team coaches plus one additional selector from the senior grades.

Selection Criteria

• Catch and pass
• Tackle and Rucks – (note, mauling is not intended to be specifically assessed)
• Set piece – (forwards only – line-out and scrum)
• "X Factor"
